Third edition of CanmetMATERIALS Science Funfest Open House to take place on October 26 as part of National Science and Technology Week
CanmetMATERIALS Science Funfest Open House is an exciting opportunity to learn about science and technology through hands-on activities and interactions with scientists employed in their field of expertise, materials science. It is a chance for people of all ages to learn about innovative metals and materials and their applications. Science stations and displays will be interactive designed to inspire and excite children and youth, and inform adults who are curious about the work being done at the lab. It is also a chance for people to see the inside of a building slated for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification.
Aligned with the objectives of National Science and Technology Week, the Science Funfest Open House will open up the CanmetMATERIALS building to the public. New materials developed by scientists here benefit from innovative processing facilities and specialized techniques for measuring materials performance. This is one of the only federal institutions in southwestern Ontario to offer an Open House for National Science and Technology Week.
We are pleased to welcome external partners to provide hands-on demonstrations at our Science Funfest this year, including a range of tenants in the McMaster Innovation Park (http://mcmasterinnovationpark.ca/events), Scientists in School, South Central Ontario Region (http://www.scientistsinschool.ca/sis-sco.php) and Lets Talk Science Hamilton (http://www.science.mcmaster.ca/lts/).
